There should be a Calendar option on the top menu bar. Select that. On the Calendar there should be a "New Event" option in the top right corner, select that. Enter the date and time of your event and select the board where you would like the event to post a thread.

been on the calendar, but no "new event" option is anywhere to be found.

I have changed the settings and the add new event option is now available. Apologies for the teething problems! You should now be able to add events to the Calendar.
